But trouble can be your friend. It forces a look at areas we neglect. Its pressure makes us hatch better ideas. It alerts us like a dashboard light that our design needs tweaking. It provides opportunity to pull your team in and get help and input from them.

I was good at managing trouble and looked at it as a creative opportunity. I would complain about it, maybe get down about it, but then…I would get activated and my best work seemed to have come from that. I was really better at handling trouble than prosperity. In 29 years I know I felt threatened more times than General Motors at a bail out hearing. But I learned a valuable thing about why I have survived. Trouble just upped my game. Anything threatening my business was akin to a bully breaking in my back yard to threaten my child (and my independence?) . I was all in with an internal attitude that you just will not be able to do this!
